Depression

What is Depression? Depression is a common serious medical illness that negatively affects how you feel about things in life, the way you think, the way you act. Depression is a feeling of sadness or not interested in an activity you once enjoyed. This can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems to function at work and home. There are reasons for Depression such as feeling sad/having a depressed mood, loss interest, changes in appetite such as weight loss or gain unrelated to dieting, sleeping too much and lack of sleep, feeling worthless and guilty, difficulty thinking, concentrating or making decisions, and thoughts of death/suicide. This is really important to everyone in general especially in students that feel depression.

Students that have depression will have no motivation to go to school, talk to their classmates, lack of participation, an outcast on activities, and getting bad grades in their classes. As a teacher, we should be able to help the student and guide them. Sometimes they just need a friend to talk too or someone who's willing to listen to their thoughts without judging them. Students who get depressed easily is about break-up and family problems. There are many ways to make a student not feel depressed by doing something new out of their comfort zone, meeting new people, talking to advisors, running, shopping, and etc. Parents played a big role in this situation to guide their children and talk to them.  Parents showing that they care and love their child will make everything better.
